How Does Sculptra Work?
Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material. The poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra stimulates your own body’s collagen production. Collagen is an important fiber that your body produces to properly support and provide structure to your skin. This non-toxic, biodegradable substance does not yield immediate results; rather, the effects appear gradually over a period of a few months.
When you undergo a Sculptra treatment with us in the San Diego area, injections are administered into the dermis to properly encourage collagen production. For the best results, a series of treatments is often recommended.

What Is the Recovery Process for Sculptra?
Although the results from Sculptra are not immediate, it does provide a gradual increase in skin thickness or targeted volume in the treatment area. Touch-ups may be recommended to maintain the optimal effects.
There is no downtime associated with the treatment process, and you should be able to resume most of your daily activities. However, you may experience some bruising, swelling, or tenderness in the treatment area, but this should subside shortly after treatment.
