Lip Fillers: Provides Volumizing Boost To Your Natural Lips

Do you find yourself preoccupied with the appearance of your lips? Are you unhappy with their overall shape or volume? Are you concerned by signs of aging like fine lines or wrinkles? Do you want to see your youthful appearance revitalized without invasive surgery? If so, you could be a good candidate for lip fillers, a popular, non-invasive cosmetic treatment that can instantly restore your lips and deliver long-lasting results. This service is just one of the quality treatments and procedures we offer at Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville and San Diego, CA.

What Do I Need to Know About Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are designed to provide a volumizing boost to your natural lips, redefining shape and borders and correcting signs of aging in one simple step. In the past 10-15 years, hyaluronic acid gel has become the most popular choice for a filler base thanks to its naturally hydrating properties and smooth texture. Injections can also help boost collagen, an essential structural protein that helps keep the skin lifted and firm over time. This may help the results of filler injections last longer and offer anti-aging benefits over time.

Considered one of the lunch hour treatments, most filler injection appointments take less than 45 minutes to complete. The treatment itself is virtually pain-free and involves a zero-downtime recovery, making it a good fit for every schedule. Our knowledgeable staff can help recommend the best lip filler option for your unique needs.

Which Concerns Can Be Addressed?

Lip filler injections can successfully correct several common concerns in patients of all ages. Here are several of our most popular areas of correction or enhancement:

Lip volume is often viewed as a representative of health, vitality, and youth. Many patients are unsatisfied with their current lip volume and wish to achieve a noticeable yet natural boost to enhance their features or combat the aging process, which can cause loss of volume. A lip filler adds instant volume to the lips through several easy injections. Typically, our providers are able to build your desired level of volume in just one appointment.

The borders of our lips often begin to fade as we grow older. This can contribute to the appearance of thin or undefined lips, which may make you look older than you actually are. Lip fillers can be used to rebuild your lip borders, giving you an optimal definition. This, combined with new volume, can completely transform your lips.

Some patients wish to alter the shape of their lips by accentuating some areas, such as the Cupid's bow. We can perform targeted injections to subtly reshape your lips and highlight your favorite areas.

Fine Lines

Fine lines in and around the lips can become more and more noticeable as we grow older. Lip filler injections can help fill lines, tightening the skin to make signs of aging all but invisible. In addition, regular filler treatments can help slow the development of new lines and wrinkles by keeping the skin taut and firm and combatting natural collagen breakdown.

Will My Results Look Natural?

In the past, lip filler injections gained a somewhat negative reputation due to some rare instances of unnatural-looking results and even permanent damage. Unfortunately, these injections were likely performed by untrained providers using permanent substances like silicone. When you decide to pursue lip filler injections, it's essential to seek care from a trained and experienced provider. Our staff is dedicated to creating attractive, long-lasting lip enhancement results using top-quality products.

The fillers we provide are designed to create a soft, skin-like texture that blends effortlessly into your natural lip. We fill each lip carefully to achieve results that are both natural and in line with your ideal image. Once your final results are visible, no one will know that you had injections performed unless you choose to tell them.

Will Fillers Permanently Stretch My Lips?

Some patients are concerned that their lips will become stretched out by fillers, especially if they use them over a long period of time. Our staff uses non-permanent, body-friendly fillers to provide you with natural-looking, long-lasting results. We do not overfill your lips, and once the results of your treatment fade, your lips will return to their original shape and size. In fact, the injection process can help stimulate small amounts of natural collagen in your lips, which natural firms and tightens the skin to create a more vibrant result.

How Long Will Results Last?

The longevity of your results will depend on the filler used during your treatment. Our doctor will determine which filler is best for you during an initial consultation. However, our patients find that they can enjoy their final results for 6-18 months before deciding to return for follow-up treatments. With ongoing appointments, you can maintain your ideal results for as long as you desire.

Can I Change My Final Results?

Some patients wish to further enhance their final results after treatment. It is normal for the product to settle slightly after injection, which may result in a minimal loss of initial volume. Our staff can perform touch-up treatments to build volume and further enhance your lips. These are performed approximately 2-3 weeks after your first treatment to ensure that your lips have healed and that your final results are fully visible.

In addition, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. This means that you can easily undo your final results and restore your normal lips without waiting for the fillers to dissolve naturally.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate?

If you are a man or woman who is unsatisfied with the appearance of your lips, you could be an ideal candidate for filler injections. To be a good candidate, you should be generally healthy and free from any medical conditions which may interact negatively with this treatment. We serve a wide range of patients with this treatment, which you can begin pursuing at age 21 and which can be successfully used to combat signs of aging later in life.

This treatment may not be ideal for patients with diagnosed bleeding disorders or for patients who have had previous permanent lip enhancements performed. If you're unsure whether you're an ideal candidate for this treatment, our doctor can help you evaluate your situation and answer any questions during an initial consultation.

What Can I Expect?

When you choose to visit one of our offices for your cosmetic needs, our professional staff is ready to walk with you through each step of treatment. While every patient has unique goals and different experiences, here is a basic overview of what you can expect from a typical treatment process:

Your treatment will begin with a brief consultation with our doctor. This appointment allows our doctor to examine your lips, discuss your ideal goals, and review your medical history to ensure that this treatment option is best for you. During this appointment, you can ask any questions you may have about the fillers or the treatment process. Once our doctor has evaluated your candidacy, you'll be provided with instructions to help you prepare for your first treatment. You should try to follow these instructions carefully to ensure successful results.

To prepare for treatment, you should try to avoid irritating your lips or the surrounding skin for approximately one week before your appointment. This may include avoiding exfoliating treatments, peels, new or untested products, and even some foods that could cause irritation. You should also make sure that your lips are free from small injuries, such as external cuts or sores, before treatment. Our provider will examine your lips before beginning the injections to detect any irritated or injured areas.

You should stop taking blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen or aspirin four to five days before treatment. In addition, you should not drink alcohol for 48 hours before treatment to decrease your risk of bruising. We recommend scheduling your appointment a week in advance of any major events or social gatherings to ensure that your recovery will be complete and that you'll look your best.

You should not apply any lip product or makeup in the target area on the day of your appointment. Our provider will clean your lips and examine them for any areas of irritation. Next, they will apply a numbing agent to keep you comfortable during the injection process. Once your lips are numb, our provider will use a fine needle to make several injections in your upper and lower lips. These injections will be strategically placed to maximize volume and definition according to your ideal image.

A normal appointment takes less than 30 minutes. Thanks to the instant filling effect achieved by the product, you can look into a mirror immediately after your appointment to admire your new results. You should notice that your lips appear fuller and more defined. In addition, any aging concerns, such as fine lines, should be noticeably improved. You can return to your normal activities with zero downtime as soon as your treatment is complete.

While you can begin enjoying your results right away, it could take up to two weeks for the lip fillers to permanently settle into place. During this time, we recommend that you avoid rubbing or pressing on your lips, which could displace the product. After two weeks, you should be able to touch your lips normally, and we can perform quick follow-up injections to restore any volume lost during the settling process. Most patients can begin wearing lip products one to three days after your treatment.

Once your final results are visible, you can expect to enjoy them for six to 18 months, depending on the products used. You should not need any touch-up appointments during this time, although some patients choose to return to our offices for regular enhancements. Once your results begin to fade, you will notice that your lips begin to lose volume and return to their previous state. At this point, you can return for follow-up treatments to re-volumize the area and maintain your ideal results.

Thanks to the body-friendly formula in modern lip fillers, you can continue having injections indefinitely to keep your lips looking youthful and fresh. Our skilled providers can work with you to treat ongoing signs of aging and can customize each treatment session to meet your needs. Most of our patients find that they are able to achieve long-term cosmetic success and rejuvenate their lips with just one to three appointments each year.

Skin Rejuvenation FAQs: Is Morpheus8 Permanent?

If you are an active, busy person who would like to address multiple skin conditions and aesthetic challenges during a single appointment, you should think about receiving a Morpheus8 treatment. At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville, California, we can use this state-of-the-art treatment to decrease your wrinkles, minimize your acne scars, and address many other frustrating skin problems.

Skin Rejuvenation FAQs: Is Morpheus8 Permanent?

Morpheus8 is a powerful treatment that uses advanced microneedling technology and radiofrequency energy to change the condition of your skin. Once we use these two techniques to improve your tissues, you will start to create larger amounts of elastin and collagen fibers. These fibrous proteins will make your tissues stronger and more resilient. As these substances build up in your skin, your wrinkles, stretch marks, and other problems will start to improve.

Although this transformation will not be permanent, this treatment will create lasting changes in the condition of your skin. In general, you should expect these improvements to last for up to 12 months. After this point, you will need to receive follow-up sessions to maintain your improved collagen and elastin production. If you receive periodic touch-up sessions, you should be able to preserve the benefits of your initial treatment for a long time.

What Cosmetic Concerns Can This Treatment Address?

We can use this state-of-the-art treatment to fix age-related issues, scars, and many other cosmetic concerns.

Fading Scars and Stretch Marks

If you developed whiteheads, blackheads, and other acne issues when you were a teenager or young adult, you might have visible acne scars on your skin. In addition, going through pregnancy or experiencing rapid changes in your weight can cause you to develop noticeable stretch marks. This treatment is very good at fading stretch marks and acne scars.

Firming Sagging Skin

As you age, your ability to produce collagen and elastin proteins will decrease. Losing these structural proteins will weaken your tissues and cause certain areas of your skin to sag. Our rejuvenating treatment will enhance your production of these powerful proteins and firm your loose skin.

Correcting Lines

Losing collagen and elastin fibers will also increase your risk of developing fine lines and creases on your skin. Your treatment will diminish your creases and give your skin a smooth, refreshed appearance.

Minimizing Sun Damage

The sun sends out ultraviolet rays that will change the structural proteins in your tissues and negatively affect the texture of your skin. Over time, this damage can cause you to experience pigmentation problems, sagging skin, and other issues. This radiofrequency and microneedling treatment will renew your skin and minimize your signs of sun damage.

Why Should I Consider Using This Aesthetic Technique?

There are a number of reasons why you should think about using this technique to improve the texture and appearance of your skin.

It's Very Versatile

Since this treatment is able to correct a broad range of aesthetic challenges and skin conditions, you will probably benefit from using this technique. In general, you will be a good candidate for this treatment if you are an adult who is dealing with loose skin, wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars, or other skin problems. In addition, we can change the depth of our needles and adapt other aspects of your treatment to match the condition of your skin.

Before we perform your rejuvenating treatment, we will take a careful look at your skin and discuss your health. If you are dealing with an acne breakout, infection, or other skin issues, you might have to reschedule your session.

It Uses Your Natural Healing Abilities

Many cosmetic treatments use injectables to temporarily improve the condition of your skin. Although these methods are safe and reliable, you might not want to use these products to change your appearance. Fortunately, we will not give you injections during any of your treatment sessions. Instead, our radiofrequency and microneedling techniques will use your natural healing abilities to firm your skin and correct your aesthetic issues.

It Has a Quick Recovery Period

If you use an invasive procedure to smooth your wrinkles or lift your sagging skin, your recovery period could last for many weeks. This long period of downtime could cause you to miss important family events or significant work deadlines. Further, you might have to hire people to help you with your household chores or childcare duties.

Fortunately, you won't need to avoid your workplace or household chores when you use this microneedling and radiofrequency treatment to enhance your skin. Since both of these techniques are very safe and gentle, you won't have to use up your vacation or personal days. Instead, you will be able to go back to your usual routine as soon as your appointment is finished.

How Does This Aesthetic Treatment Work?

This treatment will use the combined power of microneedling and radiofrequency energy to achieve dramatic changes in your skin. During your appointment, we will use a special needling device to create a series of tiny wounds in your skin. Producing these micro-injuries will cause you to create new elastin and collagen proteins. These beneficial proteins will firm your skin and improve your aesthetic challenges.

In addition to triggering your production of structural proteins, our needling device will send radiofrequency energy into several layers of your skin. Since we can adjust the depth of our needles, we will send this energy into the most beneficial locations in your target area. As this energy passes into your tissues, it will firm your skin and minimize the prominence of your cosmetic problems.

Will My Treatment Session Be Comfortable?

This rejuvenating treatment is designed to correct your acne scars, wrinkles, and other aesthetic problems in a gentle, pleasant manner.

Beginning Your Session

To ensure that you feel calm throughout your treatment, we will start your appointment by putting a topical cream onto the surface of your skin. During the next 30 minutes, this anesthetic will numb your nerves and prepare you for the next part of your treatment.

Using ProNox

In addition to providing you with numbing cream, we can give you ProNox during your treatment session. ProNox is a nitrous oxide gas that will ensure that you are calm, confident, and relaxed throughout your appointment.

Completing Your Session

Once the cream has numbed your nerves, we will use our special device to start the microneedling and radiofrequency aspects of your treatment. Although you might feel a gentle sensation of heat, you will be comfortable as we use this device to improve your tissues.

Does This Treatment Have a Lengthy Recovery Period?

Since we may perform your microneedling treatment in connection with other aesthetic techniques, the duration of your recovery period will vary. However, you will probably have a very short period of downtime after you receive your Morpheus8 treatment.

Caring for Your Skin

Although you won't need to schedule time away from your work, we will ask you not to expose the skin in your treatment area to intense sunlight for several weeks. We will instruct you to use strong sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats while your tissues are responding to your aesthetic treatment.

Changing Your Beauty Routine

To avoid irritating your tissues, you should not use harsh beauty products for a while. If you received several treatments at once, you may have to refrain from wearing makeup for about seven days.

How Many Treatment Sessions Will I Receive?

If you are trying to correct line fines and other minor aesthetic challenges, we might advise you to receive one treatment session. If you would like to achieve a more dramatic transformation, we may instruct you to get several treatments. If you are receiving multiple treatments, you will need to space out your appointments.

You can learn more about the length of your treatment plan by scheduling an initial consultation with us. After we have analyzed your skin and discussed your aesthetic goals, we will create a personalized beauty plan for you.

How Quickly Will My Aesthetic Issues Improve?

Although your tissues will have a unique response to this microneedling and radiofrequency treatment, you will probably see improvements in your lines, scars, and other problems after a couple of days.

During the next several months, the techniques that we used during your appointment will cause you to create additional elastin and collagen proteins. As the structure of your skin changes, you will see additional improvements in your aesthetic issues. You will probably see the most significant changes in your skin within about three months.

Can I Use Other Techniques to Fix My Aesthetic Challenges?

At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics, we offer an extensive range of aesthetic treatments. We can use many of these techniques in connection with your Morpheus8 treatment. Receiving multiple beauty treatments is a very good way to achieve comprehensive improvements in your appearance.

If you would like to fix your oily skin, wrinkles, lines, and other problems, you should receive a dermalinfusion treatment. During this gentle technique, we will use a special device to buff and exfoliate your skin. We will also clean your pores and infuse customized serums into your tissues. Since this technique is very mild and precise, you will not have any downtime after your dermalinfusion appointment is finished.

Chemical Peels

During a chemical peel, we will use a specially formulated solution to exfoliate your skin. Your peel will remove a layer of dead tissues from your face. Removing this unnecessary material will fix your cosmetic issues and give you a fresh, youthful-looking appearance.

We offer a wide range of different peels. For example, we can use an iS Clinical peel to address your acne problems, pigmentation challenges, and other skin conditions. This type of peel will use powerful acids to exfoliate your skin. Alternatively, you can improve your sun damage and fix age-related problems by getting a VI Derm Peel.

If you have skin tags, age spots, and other blemishes on your skin, you should think about correcting these problems with ThermoClear. During this non-invasive treatment, we will use radiofrequency technology to eliminate these imperfections. It's common to experience dramatic improvements in your complexion after you receive one ThermoClear treatment.

Transform Your Skin

Experiencing sun damage and developing wrinkles and loose skin can make you look perpetually tired and sad. Receiving a Morpheus8 treatment will renew your skin and take several years off of your appearance. If you are interested in using this powerful technique to transform your look, you should contact us at Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville, California to schedule an initial treatment.

Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant, Why You Should Consider For Your Restoration?

The unfortunate thing about hair loss is the fact that most people don't realize they have a problem until almost 50% of their hair has already thinned or disappeared. If it seems like your only option to restore your hair is to surgical intervention, then you might have a few questions, such as whether hair can be transplanted between existing hair or not. At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville, CA we are happy to answer all of your hair transplant questions when you call to schedule your consultation.

Can Hair Be Transplanted Between Existing Hair?

Yes. The most successful cases of hair restoration involve a natural-looking appearance where you are unable to tell the difference between existing hair and transplanted hair. There are some methods of hair restoration that place transplanted hair between healthy follicles to fill in thinning gaps.

How Does a Hair Transplant Work?

Hair transplants all share one idea in common - harvest healthy hair and follicles and replace them on an area of the scalp that is experiencing permanent loss.

Hair restoration is a life-changing treatment that can restore both your hair and your feelings of self-confidence. The majority of surgical transplants involve using donor hairs from your own scalp, meaning the hair will grow and behave naturally once you are fully healed.

Hair Restoration Methods

Although surgical hair restoration is often the most popular and common method, there are other treatments that you might want to consider. Even surgical restoration has different methods that might work for your particular needs better. Methods of hair restoration include:

Topical medicines for restoring or preventing hair loss include Propecia and Rogaine, which are both applied directly to the scalp to reduce hair loss and encourage growth from healthy follicles.

These medications also come in oral forms that might be preferable alternatives. You also have the option of herbal supplements like Nutrafol to prevent hair loss caused by stress.

Injectable treatments for hair restoration are relatively new and many are still undergoing trials. However, some injectable treatments that are proving to help existing hair grow and survive better include PRP, PRF, stem cells, and exosome therapy.

These treatments are ideal for patients who have hair follicles that can be "woken up" by concentrated doses of the body's natural regenerative properties. In particular, Mesenchymal Stem Cell Exosomes is a treatment that appears to have a single-step solution to hair restoration.

Low-Level Light Therapy

Low-level light therapy is an option that uses low-intensity light wavelengths to restart the growth of hair. This is ideal for patients who are noticing slow hair growth or who are only beginning to have thinning hair. Low-level light therapy is effective for patients who have mild hair loss.

Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT)

Follicular unit transplant is one of two main forms of hair restoration surgery. With FUT, a strip of hair follicles is removed from the back of the scalp and grafted onto the area of the scalp that requires treatment, which is why this method is also referred to as the "strip" method. FUT is an easier method of treatment than other surgical transplants, but it also has a longer recovery time.

Follicular Unit Excision (FUE)

Follicular unit excision is a slightly newer transplant surgery that involves using micro-punches to remove individual healthy hair and follicles and transplant them onto other areas of the scalp. FUE is more complicated and requires greater skill, but it also produces more natural results and is considered less traumatic than other transplant surgeries.

ARTAS Robotic Hair Restoration

ARTAS is an advanced technology hair restoration transplant that uses an AI to robot-assist the surgeon in performing your treatment. ARTAS is an intelligent solution to hair restoration, as it involves careful 3D mapping and planning to identify optimal hair follicles to use as donors and the ideal places to make a transplant.

With ARTAS, you have a greater chance at success and natural-looking results, usually with a lower probability of having any linear scars from the donor site.

Why Should You Chose Hair Transplant for Restoration?

Although it might be tempting to take the seemingly easier route of using non-surgical treatment methods for your hair restoration, the simple fact is those non-surgical solutions do not work for every patient.

Any hair restoration treatment is an undertaking, but if you want to make sure that your results are natural-looking and successful, then surgical hair transplants are the best possible methods.

Which Is the Better Surgical Option for You?

Determining the surgical option best for you truly depends on the amount of hair that needs to be donated and grafted, as well as the health of your existing hair. Generally speaking, FUE is the better option for producing desired results with less risk of scarring.

At our clinic, Dr. Crose specializes in FUE and even uses FUE in his ARTAS treatments for a more comprehensive approach to treatment. We will help you determine which treatment method is right for you during your consultation.

What Can You Expect Before, During, and After Treatment?

If you are committed to a surgical hair restoration method, then you should know that there are some things you can expect from this more involved treatment. Surgical treatments, in general, involve the use of anesthesia, preparation before the treatment, and a certain amount of recovery. Some steps you can expect from surgical hair transplant treatment include:

You will need to attend a consultation appointment, which gives us the opportunity for Dr. Crose to examine the severity of your hair loss and determine if you are a good candidate for surgical treatment.

We will collect certain information from you, including your general medical history, any drug allergies you may have, and any previous hair restoration treatments you have tried, both surgical and non-surgical.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

Before your treatment, we will provide you with a list of guidelines to follow to prepare you for your surgery. Some pre-treatment guidelines will include:

  • Do not take aspirin
  • Avoid certain supplements, such as vitamin E
  • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours
  • Avoid excess sunlight or sunburns
  • Perform any hair coloring at least three days prior to treatment

We ask that patients arrive by 7 am on the day of their appointment to complete consent forms and attend a brief pre-operative examination. Because this is a surgery, you will need to arrange for transportation after your treatment is complete.

After your pre-operative examination, the first step of your treatment will be to outline and confirm the planned treatment. We may also request to take photographs of your scalp to better help prepare for your treatment and to use it as a reference during your recovery. If you opt to use the ARTAS method, then we may also complete your 3D hairline planning at this time.

Next, you will be offered a sedative to keep you calm during your treatment. We will provide you with local anesthetics to keep you comfortable for the duration of your treatment. After your nerves have been blocked, the hair restoration treatment will begin, first with harvesting the donor hair and then grafting the hair onto the scalp. Your treatment may last for several hours: sometimes up to 8 to complete the entire treatment.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

After your treatment, we will provide you with a list of guidelines to help you through your immediate recovery period. These guidelines may include:

  • Do not take aspirin
  • Avoid alcohol and tobacco products
  • Do not go into direct sunlight
  • No excess sweat or strenuous movement
  • Sleep with head elevated

We may give you additional instructions, such as medications you should use to help facilitate healing or encourage new hair growth. Please continue to follow post-treatment guidelines until your follow-up appointment, which is typically four days after your treatment.

There is some recovery time expected following your treatment, usually about two to five days. After this time, you are able to return to most normal daily activities, including work and other light activity. The majority of patients are fully recovered from surgery and on their way to growing new, healthy hair within two weeks following treatment.

When Can You See Results?

The results from your treatment will appear gradually over the next six to nine months. Over 60% of patients who have transplant surgery see new hair growth during this period of time, with full results being realized by 12 months. Your newly grafted hair follicles will grow and behave like natural hair, which means you can dye and cut your hair as you desire.

Are Results Permanent?

Yes. Hair follicles that have been transplanted into the scalp are there permanently. You will not have to worry about your hair restoration thinning or leading to premature balding.

Will You Need Multiple Treatments?

You may require multiple treatments. While your transplanted follicles will last a lifetime, your normal hair follicles are still susceptible to falling out on their own as a result of natural hair loss. For this reason, many patients who have hair restoration treatment commonly have the first surgery for initial thinning patches and a second surgery later to restore other lost hair.

What Causes Hair Loss?

To a certain extent, hair loss is a natural part of life, just as turning over dead skin cells is natural. However, at a certain point, hair loss can become permanent due to several factors including age, genetics, stress, medications, disease, malnutrition, and injury. Permanent hair loss is often caused when a hair follicle is no longer able to sustain hair growth.

Does Hair Loss Only Happen to Men?

No, hair loss happens to both men and women. In fact, about 50% of all people experience hair loss at some point in their lives. While hair loss such as premature balding is more common in men, there are many women who experience alopecia.

Hair loss can happen to active, healthy people just as often as it happens to people with higher risk factors, such as those who have high levels of stress.

What's the Difference Between Shedding and Hair Loss?

Some amount of hair loss is perfectly normal, such as regular shedding. On average, people lose about 40 to 60 strands of hair a day, which is an expected amount of shedding in healthy people because hair is constantly growing. Hair loss, on the other hand, is characterized by hair that is shed and that does not grow back, which is what leads to thinning hair.

Are You a Good Candidate for Treatment?

Most people who are experiencing any amount of hair loss are good candidates for one or more methods of hair restoration. Candidates for surgical hair restoration treatments are those who are physically healthy and who have a moderate to severe amount of hair loss.

Where Can You Inject Dysport?

Are you hoping to slow or reduce the signs of aging, especially around your upper face? If so, Dysport might be the right fit for you. Our providers at Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville, CA, offer a range of different cosmetic injectables, so we know the ins and outs of what different injectables have to offer. This particular injection is primarily used to target lines and wrinkles but has also been used to help treat several medical conditions.

Where Can You Inject Dysport?

From Cosmetic to Medical Uses, Dysport Is a Versatile Product

There are many ways Dysport can be put to use, so there is a range of areas it can be injected into. Some of these areas can include:

  • Various lines around the eyes and forehead
  • Lines around the mouth and lower face
  • The neck to address neck bands
  • Areas with excessive sweat
  • Areas affected by cervical dystonia or spasticity

Although it does have an impressive range of treatment abilities, this particular injection is commonly used to reduce lines and wrinkles. With that in mind, we'll start by covering the areas it is most often used:

Frown Lines

A frown line is the verticle line that appears between your eyebrows, also known as a glabellar line. You most commonly see it when you furrow your brow, but as the muscles in your face age, it may permanently settle in place regardless of your expression. When injected around frown lines, Dysport relaxes the muscles of the upper face. Smoothing over these frown lines can open up the face to create a lighter resting expression.

Forehead Lines

This injection is a great option for concerns ranging from fine lines to deeper wrinkles along the forehead. One of the unique features of this injection is its ability to spread more effectively than some of its competition. This is due in part to its dilution. With skillful administration, this can improve its ability to cover larger areas such as the forehead for quick and easy results.

Lines Around the Eyes

Often called crow's feet, these lines originate from the outer corner of the eye and can spread upwards towards your eyebrow, or curve down towards your cheekbone. As the skin's elasticity continues to degrade over time, the lines around the eyes can also continue to stretch and deepen. Neuromodulator injections are considered an effective treatment for crow's feet.

Additional Cosmetic Treatment Areas

In addition to treating the above-mentioned areas of the face, our experts at Capitis Medical & Aesthetics are able to put their skillful application to use in several other areas.

Lines and Wrinkles Around the Corners of the Mouth

Smile lines and marionette lines both affect the lower face. Smile lines come down from the corners of the nose to the side of the mouth and are also called nasolabial folds. Marionette lines start at the corners of the mouth and reach down to the jaw. In both cases, this injection can help to smooth over deep and thin lines alike, freeing up your smile.

Neck Bands

Have you been considering a neck lift, but don't want to commit to the cost and downtime that comes with surgery? A skillful administration of your injections can help give you some of the same benefits as a neck lift without having to put a pause on your life. Neuromodulator injections can smooth over some of the bands and lines along your neck. This helps to give the skin of your neck a youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

The Jawline

When used on the jaw, this treatment can have a slimming effect on your face. When a neuromodulator is injected into the jaw muscles, the muscles will respond by losing some of their bulk. For patients who want a slimmer facial appearance, this ability can make it a useful tool. It has also been used to help correct an asymmetrical jawline.

Other Medical Uses

This injection is far from a one-trick pony. When people think of a neuromodulator injection, they generally don't think of it being used for anything but the face. However, just as it has multiple cosmetic uses, this injection can also be used to help in the management of multiple medical conditions.

Sweaty Hands, Armpits, or Feet

Sweating is the body's response to exercise and sometimes nervousness. While it's true that everyone sweats and it's nothing to be ashamed of, the embarrassment that comes along with excessive sweat can sometimes be debilitating in social situations. Trying to hide sweat may come in the form of wiping your hands on your pants before that important handshake, or keeping your arms pinned to your side to hide sweat stains.

Rather than constantly relying on antiperspirants, or dabbing yourself off in the bathroom, some people have found relief from their sweat by receiving neuromodulator injections. When precisely injected into the problem areas, it can block the communication between your nerves and your sweat glands.

Cervical Dystonia in Adults

Cervical dystonia affects the muscles of your neck. It can cause these neck muscles to unpredictably and involuntarily contract, which may tilt and turn your head back and frontwards, or side to side. Neuromodulator injections can have their ability to relax these muscles put to good use, by calming the muscles that are acting up and causing pain.

Spasticity in Adults and Children Who Are at Least Two Years Old

Spasticity is similar to cervical dystonia in that it tightens and contracts muscles in an involuntary and often painful manner. Spasticity can affect other areas of the body, such as the arms and legs. A spasm can last anywhere from a couple of seconds to 15 minutes or more. When the muscles are contracted, it can be difficult or impossible to try to stretch them out from their retracted position.

As with cervical dystonia, a neuromodulator injection may relieve some symptoms of spasticity, allowing the treated individual more freedom of movement and comfort. For spasticity, a reduction of symptoms is usually noticeable after about two weeks. This treatment has the potential to help a patient feel better for several months.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What Exactly Is It Made Of?

Like Botox, this is a neuromodulator injection. Both of these injections contain the botulinum toxin, but they do differ slightly from one another. When compared to each other, Botox tends to be slightly more expensive and less diluted.

There are also slight differences in the ingredients, with Dysport containing abobotulinumtoxinA and Botox containing onabotulinumtoxinA. Both can be effective treatment options. In fact, they are sometimes used on the same patient for different areas of the face. The right doctor will be able to help determine which treatment will work best for the areas you would like addressed.

2. How Does It Work?

Neuromodulators work by interrupting nerve signals before they reach the muscle. This interruption stops the muscle from reacting to nerve transmissions, which allows the treated muscles to relax. This relaxation effect reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and also can help to prevent those same lines and wrinkles from deepening.

In the case of treating excessive sweat, it works by paralyzing the sweat glands. The injected area will not be able to produce as much sweat or odor as a result of this paralysis. Since the injection only affects the treated area, other areas of your body will be able to continue doing their job and produce sweat to help you regulate your temperature.

3. What Is the Difference Between Neuromodulator Injections and Dermal Fillers?

Neuromodulator injections work by relaxing and smoothing over the muscles of the face. They are especially effective for the lines and wrinkles of the upper face. While neuromodulator injections can also be helpful for the lower face, there are some signs of aging in the lower face that can be better addressed by dermal fillers.

The face loses its "fullness" over time. As the fat along your face starts to dissolve, your cheeks may start to sink in. This can cause the skin of your face to droop. Combined with the loss of skin elasticity, this loss of fat can further exaggerate lines and wrinkles along the lower face. Fillers help to restore some of the lost fullness. Fillers and neuromodulators can be used together to help achieve ideal results.

4. When Will I See Results, and How Long Will They Last?

You should be able to see and enjoy some of the effects of your injections in about two to three days. As it continues to settle and get to work, the appearance of your lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease until you hit two or three weeks, which is when your results will be at their full effect. For that reason, we recommend scheduling your injections two or three weeks before any special events you have planned.

After treatment reaches its full effect, you can expect your results to maintain themselves for about three to four months. Each case can vary slightly, with some people able to go longer between treatments. Once you decide on the best routine to maintain your results, we'll be able to set your appointment frequency together accordingly.

5. How Long Does the Treatment Take, and Will I Have to Rest Afterwards?

Depending on what area you would like treated, you can expect treatment to take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. Many patients have even snuck it in during their lunch break! One of the best benefits of this injection is there is no downtime associated with it, so it has a minimal impact on your busy schedule.

Treatment is meant to be discreet, and the onset of results are gradual. You can slip in for an appointment and slip right back out, and no one should be able to guess where you've been. As results set in over the next couple of days, the injection will work with your natural beauty, restoring a youthful appearance instead of trying to reinvent your face.

6. How Do I Know Which Cosmetic Injectable Is Right for Me?

When it comes to picking out a cosmetic injection, the choices can be overwhelming. There are neuromodulators, but there are also dermal fillers and even injections using your own body's platelet-rich plasma. Our team has a wide range of tools and treatments at our disposal, and we are dedicated to using our experience to help you find the right treatment for your needs.

How Long Does a Microneedling Session Last?

Collagen: we drink it in our coffee, and we slather it on topically with the hopes that it will make our skin better. But what if there was a way to force the body into making more of it, naturally? The good news is, there is a way and it's within your reach. You can increase your body's natural collagen production through microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy. At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville, CA, we offer microneedling, an effective treatment that can improve your skin, increase collagen, and help your skin glow again.

How Long Does a Microneedling Session Last?
Some people don't invest in their skin because they think that they don't have the time. This treatment obliterates that excuse because it is a quick, efficient treatment typically performed in 30 minutes. When you decide to move forward and commit to a microneedling session, you are choosing a treatment that won't keep you in the office for half of the day, but your entire session will take less than an hour of your day, yet the results will last for months to come.

What Is Microneedling?

At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics, we perform microneedling treatments with the innovative SkinPen. This handheld pen-like device is filled with ultra-fine, medical-grade needles ranging in length from .5 to 2 mm. During the treatment, the esthetician passes the SkinPen across the surface of your skin. These needles insert in and out of the skin repetitively as the pen moves across the skin, creating micro-injuries. This process forces the body to shift into healing mode and increases collagen and elastin production.

How Does It Work?

This treatment focuses on improving the skin by eliciting a natural response from the body. The body responds to the injuries made by the SkinPen and shifts into healing mode. During the healing process, it may not look like it but many different processes begin interacting just beneath the surface of the skin. This healing process takes place within three different phases:

The Inflammatory Phase

The inflammatory phase is where the body turns on its inflammatory response after the SkinPen punctures the skin's surface. During this phase, the body utilizes the immune system to clean those wounds. Blood flow increases in the area treated and the body begins the process of creating new tissue.

The Proliferation Phase

During the proliferation phase, the body creates new cells and blood vessels in preparation for replacing the tissue with new, fresh skin.

The Remodeling Phase

In the remodeling phase, the area is remodeled so to speak, and the wound is rebuilt with new, fresh skin and blood vessels. Increased collagen production floods collagen to the injured area, plumping it and giving it a fresher, more youthful appearance.

What Happens During a Treatment?

During your appointment, your skin will be cleansed in preparation for treatment. Your esthetician will apply a topical anesthetic to your skin for your maximum comfort, and then she will pass the SkinPen back and forth across the surface of your skin. The needles will create microchannels, which are tiny punctures, in your skin, and your body will begin the healing process.

What Can I Expect Afterwards?
Once your treatment is over, you may experience some minor redness during the first 24-48 hours. That redness will pale in comparison to the immediate, noticeable improvements in your skin that you will begin and continue to see as time goes on. Your results will continue to increase over the next two to three months.

Are There Any Aftercare Instructions?

There are some directives that you should follow once your treatment is complete. You should avoid excess sun exposure, use sunscreen, and avoid exfoliating products in the days following your treatment. We will give you additional instructions post-treatment and can recommend the best products to use to ensure that you get the best results.

Will I Need More Than One Treatment?

Most people who commit to microneedling commit to a series of treatments for optimal results. The total number of treatments needed varies from one person to the next, based on different skin care goals and problematic skin conditions. We will develop a customized treatment plan for you based on your needs so that you can get the best results possible.

Maximizing Your Results: Combining Treatments

As a stand-alone treatment, microneedling will change your skin and give you the results you are looking for, but the way to maximize those results is by combining treatments. When you combine microneedling with other treatments, you can increase its effectiveness and further improve the quality of your skin. For those who have never visited a Med Spa before, the range of treatment options can be overwhelming, but don't panic.

Adding Serums

The application of serums following your treatment allows powerful and highly effective ingredients to deeper penetrate the skin and improve more effectively. Once the skin is opened up and covered in micro-channels, we can take advantage of the opportunity to flood the skin with nourishing serums so that you will get even more out of your treatment. Two of the most popular serums we offer as combination treatments are PRP and Hyaluronic Acid.

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and is most often associated with Vampire Facials. However, this plasma is highly effective when combined with microneedling. First, you will undergo a typical blood draw, and your blood will be spun in a centrifuge, separating the PRP from the blood. PRP will then be applied to your open skin. The PRP will enter the wounds, and it will help heal the skin, leading to faster collagen production and the creation of new blood vessels.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid (often abbreviated to HA) is another naturally occurring substance found in the human body. It is one of the main ingredients in dermal fillers because it is a hydrating substance that plumps the skin from the inside out and the outside in. Following your treatment, hyaluronic can be applied to the areas treated as a way to hydrate the skin more deeply. Treatments finished with a hyaluronic acid application lead to a smoother, more hydrated appearance.

The Benefits of Microneedling

It Provides an Instant Plumping Effect

This treatment is considered a form of collagen induction therapy, so the main result is increased collagen. Collagen production plumps the skin as it pushes upward, creating more volume and natural fullness. Your face will exhibit a youthful glow as a result.

It Helps Treat Delicate Areas

Everyone knows that the lip and under-eye area are far more delicate and sensitive than the rest of your face. A benefit of this treatment is that you can specifically target these areas and see vast improvements in any problem areas you may have.

The Under-Eye Area

You may think that dark circles beneath the eye develop from poor sleep, and while sleep does play a part in the appearance of your eye area, the root cause of this darkness is collagen loss. The dark circle is actually a shadow formed by a hollowness in the area. When the needles roll across the under-eye area, the micro-injuries boost collagen and improve those dark circles in a way that eye creams simply cannot.

The Area Around the Lips

Lip injections are all the rage right now, but what if you're not ready to commit to lip injections but would still like to add some fullness to your lips? The SkinPen is safe for the area around the lips and can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines there as well. You will also get that plumping effect around your mouth, which can help the lips appear fuller.

It's Natural

If you're not sold on the idea of dermal fillers or neurotoxins, that's ok; you don't have to be. There are effective ways to obtain a more youthful appearance naturally, and this treatment provides the perfect option. You will see fuller, plumper skin, and an improvement in the appearance of your lines and wrinkles after your treatment. As you continue to undergo the recommended number of sessions, you will be able to reach your skin goals and maintain youthful skin.

Your Skin Will Get More From Your Products

The micro-channels created by the SkinPen open up your skin. As a result, when you apply your ingredient-rich products and serums, the active ingredients will better penetrate your skin and help improve your skin on a deeper level than they were pre-treatment.

It Works on All Skin Types

There isn't just one skin type that benefits from this treatment, but it is safe for all skin tones, types, and textures. This makes it a versatile treatment that can help treat anyone who wants to address skin problems such as acne, stretch marks, and the signs of aging, regardless of their skin type or tone.

It Works on the Face and the Body

This treatment isn't limited to the face. It is also highly effective on the areas of the body where you want to see improvement in your skin.

It Can Improve the Appearance of Stretch Marks

If you have stretch marks that haven't responded to creams and scrubs, this treatment will help you achieve the results you are looking for but haven't been able to find. When the SkinPen passes back and forth across your stretch marks, it creates injuries that lead to increased collagen production. That collagen pushes up from beneath the surface of the skin and helps the stretch mark appear less noticeable.

It Requires Zero Downtime

You won't have to plan for downtime following your treatment. You can carry on with your normal day-to-day activities as soon as your appointment is complete.

It Helps Acne-Prone Skin

If you have acne-prone skin, this treatment can help alleviate that acne. Collagen production can help clear breakouts and the serums applied at the end of your treatment work to heal and repair the skin.

Who Is a Candidate?

If you have fine lines, moderate lines, or deep-set lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, or facial folds due to aging, this skin tightening treatment may be your solution. During your initial consultation, a doctor from our team will be able to assess your skin and talk with you about your goals and make sure that this treatment is best suited for your particular skin care needs and goals. We can put together a treatment plan that will improve your skin within weeks, all without surgery or injections.

What Can You Expect From Your First Chemical Peel?

A clear, smooth, radiant complexion comes from steadily working to increase the health of your skin. Perfect skin comes in part from consistently using skincare products that are ideal for your skin type and tone. Another part of the puzzle comes from wisely selecting the aesthetic treatments you use to correct skin concerns. At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville, CA, we think chemical peels should be part of an excellent skincare regime.

What Can You Expect From Your First Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels are just another type of facial, so if you have a lot of anxiety about a peel hurting or being uncomfortable, you can put those thoughts out of your head right now.

A peel is essentially an enhanced form of exfoliation, meaning it removes the dead skin cells from the surface layer of your skin and helps your skin cells turn over more quickly, revealing new and blemish-free skin on the surface.

But while a peel itself is a simple 30-minute appointment that really amounts to little more than the application of a special chemical on the skin, which is then removed after several minutes, there are some things you may want to prepare for. If it's your first time getting a peel, then your basic steps will go something like this:

First-timers must attend a consultation appointment before their first peel. Why? Mostly because you can only get the best results from a peel if you're using a peel that is ideally matched to your skin type, tone, and needs.

This is especially true for first-timers, who also need to be educated in the results they can reasonably expect from a peel and the peel options they have. During your consultation, one of our professionals will complete a skin analysis that will look at all the aspects of your skin, including your skin health, your main skin issues, and your skin type.

We may ask about your regular beauty routine, such as the skincare products you use and how friendly you are with sunscreen. After we have a solid understanding of your skin, we will then go over the options for your peel to find the best one suited to your unique skin needs and aesthetic goals.

Preparing for Treatment

Peels are pretty basic as far as facials go, but you'll still need to do a little preparation before your appointment. Preparation is important for peels, particularly if you're a fan of using acids, exfoliators, and other chemicals in your normal skincare routine.

Some things you will need to do for 3 to 5 days before your appointment to prepare for your treatment include:

  • Temporarily discontinue using Retinol, lactic acid, and glycolic acid products
  • Avoid direct sun exposure without SPF 30 or greater
  • Stop all waxing, tweezing, or laser hair removal treatments
  • Do not use scrubs or exfoliating products

Treatment Appointment

Your treatment appointment can be done at any time of the day. Facials such as this one are generally "lunchtime" treatments that can be completed quickly and allow you to return to your normal daily activities.

It's best to arrive at your appointment with a freshly cleansed face, which means no make-up if you can help it. We will sterilize and cleanse your skin to remove any excess dirt, oil, or make-up, and then the chemical will be applied to your face for about 20 minutes.

After the chemical is removed, we may apply a skin-soothing moisturizer or instruct you to use sunscreen before you leave. No portion of the treatment is painful.

Recovery From Treatment

Peels don't have any downtime associated with them, which means you can go directly from your appointment to whatever else it is you have to get done that day, including work and errands.

However, your skin will be vulnerable from the peel for the next few days, so it's important to take care of your skin well to get the best results from treatment. Some rules you will need to follow after your treatment include:

  • Avoid direct sun exposure, excessive heat, and excessive sweating
  • Always wear SPF 30 or greater outside and reapply every 30 minutes
  • Moisturize well
  • Do not use Retinol, lactic acid, or glycolic acid products
  • No scrubbing or exfoliating the skin
  • Only use mild cleansers and lukewarm water
  • Avoid hair removal products and treatments

And that's it - your chemical peel treatment is really that simple. If you have further questions about what you can expect from the treatment, please feel free to ask one of our aesthetic professionals.

What Types of Peels Are There?

The point of a peel is to combine the deep-cleaning and exfoliating portions of a facial into a one-step treatment.

Peels actually have a long history of being efficient skincare treatments, dating all the way back to Ancient Egypt and trendsetter Cleopatra, who use sour milk (and it's lactic acid) to beautify her skin. Today, there are a few different peels to choose from, and they each fall into one of three categories.

A light peel is one that only exfoliates the surface layer of skin, which means it mainly gets rid of the dead skin cluttering your epidermis and helps reveal the fresh layer of skin underneath.

Light peels are ideal to handle minor superficial skin concerns, such as fine lines, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, dry skin, uneven tone, and uneven texture. You can have a light peel about once every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain results.

A medium peel is one that works most of its magic on the dermis, or the sub-dermal layers of skin right beneath the topmost layer.

Medium peels will exfoliate the skin to the dermal layer and use stronger acids to treat moderate skin concerns, including wrinkles, scarring, acne, sun damage, and skin laxity brought on by aging. Because medium peels use stronger acids, they can only be done a few times a year - once every 3 to 4 months is best to maintain results.

Deep peels use the strongest types of acids and exfoliate skin right to the bottom layer of skin for a total overhaul - but because deep peels are so serious, they are typically only used for the treatment of skin cancers or other lesions. Most people will never require a deep peel in their lifetimes.

Which Type of Peel Should You Have?

Not sure which peel is right for you? That's okay - this conundrum is precisely why our patients undergo that skin analysis during their consultation. Depending on your skin needs and concerns, we will recommend the peel type and frequency that is best for you.

Your main choice of peels will come down to a light peel or a medium peel. At our clinic, we specialize in two types of peels - the iS Clinical Peel and the VI Derm Peel.

What Is iS Clinical Peel?

iS Clinical Peels are professional, medical-grade peels that can only be performed by an aesthetic professional. iS Clinical Peels use powerful acids to correct the visible signs of aging, pigmentation, acne, and much more.

A few of the most popular types of iS Clinical Peels include:

  • Fire & Ice Facial, for resurfacing the skin
  • Exfoliating Clear Skin Facial, for acne-prone skin
  • Foaming Enzyme Treatment, for radiant skin
  • Honey Enzyme Facial, for all skin types
  • Harmony Facial, for renewing sensitive skin

What Is VI Derm Peel?

VI Derm Peel is another collection of peels that uses powerful acids to correct skin concerns caused by environmental factors, particularly sun damage, dryness, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin texture, and dull skin tone.

VI Derm Peels are powerful enough to correct damage and also help prevent new damage. The best VI Derm Peels include:

  • The Original, for all skin types
  • Purify With Precision Plus, for scarring and acne-prone skin
  • Precision, for pigmentation and discoloration
  • Purify, for acne-prone and oily skin
  • Advanced, for anti-aging rejuvenation

Benefits of Chemical Peels

Peels are highly beneficial treatments that can handle a wide array of skin-related concerns. As one of the most - if not the most - versatile aesthetic treatments in the world, peels can concisely address all of your superficial skin concerns at one time. The main benefits of this treatment include:

Non-invasive aesthetic treatments are ones that do not breach the surface layers of skin, and facials are at the top of the list for good examples of this type of treatment.

Non-invasive treatments have many advantages, including the fact that they do not require the use of any sedation, anesthetics, or topical numbing creams, Non-invasive treatments are also gentler on the skin and usually have no downtime.

Anti-Aging Rejuvenation

The goal of any anti-aging treatment is to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as correct skin laxity to tighten skin.

Peels are highly capable facials that can stimulate the production of collagen within the sub-dermal layers of skin, so in addition to exfoliating old layers of skin cells, peels can also plump-up the volume of your skin.

Skin-Perfecting and Correcting

Some of the most common and difficult to treat skin concerns are sun damage, dark spots, and other pigmentation problems. Any skin issue that gives you uneven skin tone and texture can be a tough nut to crack, but peels manage to do so without breaking a sweat.

The key to this, of course, is the fact that these superficial skin concerns are only a few skin cell turnover cycles away from resolving themselves - a peel just helps speed up the process.

Treat, Manage, and Control Acne

Acne has a lot of symptoms, including blackheads, whiteheads, enlarged pores, and the actual pustules. The trick to treating acne is to find a consistent means for controlling oil production, bacterial spread, and skin cell turnover.

Peels can help regulate oil production, kill acne-causing bacterial, slough off dead skin cells, and even tighten up enlarged pores.

Safe Treatments for All Skin Types and Tones

Peels are treatments that are safe for all skin types and skin tones, which can be quite the standout from other treatments that may not be as compatible with dark or medium complexions. These are also safe treatments with significantly low risk of side effects.

Are You a Good Candidate for Chemical Peels?

Anyone who is not completely satisfied with the appearance of their skin is likely a good candidate for a peel. Whether you only have superficial skin concerns or you want to dig in deep for anti-aging rejuvenation, there is probably a peel made for your skin type and skin concerns in mind.

Votiva Treatments: Why and Who Should Consider This?

Millions of women experience vaginal laxity or looseness that occurs in the vagina. Vaginal laxity is most often associated with aging, menopause, and vaginal childbirth. It can be accompanied by a variety of unpleasant symptoms which can have a negative impact on a woman's overall quality of life. Capitis Medical & Aesthetics, with locations in both Roseville, California and San Diego, California, can help address vaginal laxity and the other problems associated with it through Votiva.

What Is Votiva?

This treatment can safely address internal and external vaginal health issues without the need for surgery. It is a comfortable and non-invasive treatment option that helps rejuvenate the vagina's walls as well as external structures, like the labia minora and the labia majora, through radiofrequency. Electric currents heat the tissue and encourage growth as well as collagen and elastin production.

Who Should Consider Votiva Treatments?

Anyone who has experienced symptoms of vaginal laxity should consider this treatment. While childbirth and aging are the main causes behind vaginal laxity and stretching, this treatment is suitable for women of all ages regardless of whether they have previously given birth.

Labia or Vulva Is Wrinkled or Lacking Elasticity

As people age, their skin naturally loses elastin and collagen. Elastin gives the skin structure by allowing it to stretch and bounce back while collagen provides the skin with strength and plumpness. When the body no longer produces enough elastin or collagen, the skin may be weaker, be less elastic, have more wrinkles, and look older. This can cause women to be more self-conscious about their labia or vulva.

Votiva can help solve these problems because the energy introduced to the tissues encourages more collagen and elastin production in the labia and vulva which will help reduce wrinkles, increase elasticity, strengthen the skin, and generally rejuvenate the areas.

Labia Protrudes Outside the Vaginal Opening

In some cases, a labia may become so stretched, wrinkled, and weakened that it protrudes outside the vaginal opening. Labial hypertrophy may result in hygiene problems, irritation, and pain or discomfort during sexual foreplay, sexual intercourse, horseback riding, or bike riding.

This radiofrequency treatment works to tighten and strengthen the tissue in and around the labia which will rejuvenate the labia and help it return to its natural position.

Low Blood Flow in the Vulvovaginal Area

Insufficient blood flow to the vulvovaginal area might be caused by poor circulation, low hormone levels, and a lack of lubrication. This can result in arousal problems and difficulty achieving orgasm.

People suffering from low blood flow in the labia and vulva may benefit from this treatment because it stimulates and heats these areas with electric currents, which rejuvenates the tissues and will increase blood flow. This can increase the sensation in the area and help resolve arousal and orgasm problems.

Lowered Sex Drive or Difficulty Enjoying Sex

People may experience a lowered sex drive for a wide variety of reasons, from low self-esteem to stress to depression to changes in hormones. Having a low sex drive can also make it more difficult to enjoy having sex and achieve orgasm.

Votiva can help increase a woman's sex drive because it increases the blood flow to the vaginal area which can make sexual foreplay and intercourse more arousing and appealing. The treatment strengthens the vaginal walls and rejuvenates them which can make sexual intercourse more enjoyable and less uncomfortable.

Vaginal Dryness

Vaginal dryness can be a result of menopause, depression, excessive stress, immune system disorders, childbirth, rigorous exercise, cancer treatments, the surgical removal of ovaries, douching, medications, or hormonal changes. It's an unpleasant sensation and can negatively impact how much someone enjoys sexual intercourse.

This radiofrequency treatment stimulates the tissue that creates lubrication in the vaginal area and increases the area's blood flow which can help resolve vaginal dryness. Helping the vagina naturally lubricate itself may help with any feelings of burning, itching, or looseness caused by vaginal dryness.

Urinary Incontinence

Vaginal childbirth, obesity, and aging can change the pelvic floor region and weaken the urethral closure mechanism, making it more likely that someone will suffer from stress urinary incontinence. Stress urinary incontinence, a condition where a physical movement or activity like coughing, laughing, or running puts pressure on the bladder and causes urine to leak out, can be an embarrassing and inconvenient condition for many women.

The tissues and the pelvic floor are strengthened by this treatment which allows for more support of organs like the bladder. It also helps increase the collagen and elastin production which can help rejuvenate the urethral closure mechanism to reduce the likelihood of suffering from bouts of stress urinary incontinence.

Giving birth can drastically alter the vagina. The process stretches the muscles, tendons, and vaginal walls and strains the body. Women may have a change in vaginal tone after giving birth which can result in stress incontinence and decreased sensation during sex. The vaginal opening can become enlarged and the size and shape of the labia might also change after childbirth.

This treatment can help rejuvenate and restore the vagina, the vaginal opening, and the labia to their previous state. Thanks to the radiofrequency technology, the tissues are encouraged to produce new collagen and elastin which can help tighten and strengthen the skin, reduce the size of the vaginal opening, and reshape the labia.

Aging Issues

The structure in and around the vagina may change as a result of the dwindling elastin and collagen levels that often accompany aging. This results in weaker, less firm, more wrinkled skin and a widened vaginal canal which can contribute to decreased sensation during sexual foreplay and intercourse, increased dryness, and discomfort. Aging muscles and tendons can also cause a weakened pelvic floor, meaning there will be less support for the vagina and several organs. This lack of support may cause urinary incontinence and digestive issues.

Votiva can help rejuvenate the vaginal tissues to combat these problems. The treatment works to increase the body's production of collagen and elastin which will help the skin become stronger and more firm. The vaginal canal may become more narrow and more well-lubricated which can help decrease its dryness and increase sensation during sexual foreplay and sexual intercourse.

A Change in Weight

This treatment may also be beneficial to people who have experienced a change in weight. Weight fluctuations can change the size and shape of the vulvovaginal area which may affect a woman's self-esteem and sexual relationships.

The heat that is produced by the electric currents stimulates the tissues in the vulvovaginal area and encourages collagen and elastin growth. This will help the skin tighten, become stronger, and become more elastic so it can return to its original size and shape.

How Does It Work?

This non-surgical treatment is a radiofrequency technology that addresses internal and external vaginal issues. Unlike laser-based treatments, radiofrequency introduces electric currents to tissues which help to uniformly heat them. This warming can then encourage the body to increase its production of collagen and elastin as well as new cells and blood vessels, which will help strengthen and tighten the skin, giving it a more youthful look and helping it return to its original size or shape.

FormaV targets the internal tissues (lamina propria) while FractoraV targets the external tissues (epithelial). FormaV and FractoraV may be used separately or together in a single treatment session.

FormaV is a therapeutic device that helps treat internal vaginal tissues and external tissues through improving blood circulation, providing muscle pain relief and muscle relaxation, tightening the inner vaginal walls, and tightening the skin of the labia. Treatment with FormaV may be accompanied by a slight warming sensation, but many patients experience no discomfort at all.

Gel is applied to the FormaV applicator and warmed before being inserted into the vaginal canal. The probe is moved in and out and rotated 360 degrees in order to distribute the heat uniformly throughout the vaginal canal. Usually only one or two passes of the entire canal are needed before the tissues reach the target temperature and the body will be triggered to start creating more elastin and collagen.

FractoraV is an external treatment that works to enhance skin tone and texture. This resurfacing device stimulates collagen and elastin production through its warming effect and can enhance the skin's tone and texture.

In this external treatment, a topical anesthetic gel may be applied to the skin to reduce any discomfort. The tiny pins of the FractoraV device are then inserted into the tissue to deliver energy which will heat the tissue and encourage collagen and elastin production to remodel the tissue.

How Long Is a Treatment Session?

Treatment sessions will generally take between thirty and forty minutes, though their length may vary depending on which areas are being treated.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Though the exact number of treatments will vary on an individual basis, a series of three treatments is often recommended for the best results. These treatments will generally be spaced four to six weeks apart, and you can expect to continue to experience increased benefits in the months following your completion of the treatments. You may wish to schedule a yearly maintenance treatment session.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Though the results from this treatment are long-lasting, it's likely you will eventually experience another increase in vaginal laxity as you age. You may wish to schedule a yearly maintenance treatment session.

What Are Some Other Benefits of Votiva?

In addition to improving a woman's quality of life through helping resolve a wide variety of vaginal issues, there are a few other benefits to receiving this treatment over other vaginal rejuvenation treatments.

There Are Fewer Risks

There are fewer risks associated with radiofrequency treatments like Votiva than are associated with more invasive treatments. This treatment isn't a surgical procedure, and general anesthesia is not needed.

There Is Little to No Downtime

While other vaginal rejuvenation treatments may be accompanied by downtime, this one is not. Following your treatment session, you can continue your day as usual and you may already be feeling the results of the treatment!

However, there are a few activities you should avoid in the three to four days following your treatment, such as intercourse, hot tubs, pools, and bathtubs.

The Results Are Quick

Another benefit of this treatment is that the results are fast. Some women who have received the treatment noticed results on the same day as their first treatment! Over time, people may continue to feel improvements, and undergoing a series of treatments may result in even greater improvements.

This combination of radiofrequency energy and microneedling body contouring technique can firm your skin, reduce your sun damage, and minimize the appearance of your lines and wrinkles. Read on to learn how this fantastic technique can help you.

Body Contouring: What Makes Morpheus8 So Effective?

Morpheus8 is an extremely effective way to enhance your skin. Many cosmetic treatments can only address one issue at a time. For instance, some treatments may improve your wrinkles without firming your skin. Morpheaus8 is different. This fantastic body contouring technique can firm your skin, minimize your wrinkles, address sun damage, and improve many other issues and imperfections.

A Dual Approach

This treatment is extremely effective because it uses a dual approach to treat your body. Morpheus8 uses a combination of radiofrequency energy and microneedling techniques to enhance your treatment area. This dual approach will affect the upper and lower levels of your skin. As a result, Morpheus8 can achieve significant, long-lasting results.

Radio Frequency Energy

During your treatment, we will apply radiofrequency energy to your target area. This energy is commonly used to tighten people's skin and minimize the appearance of their scars. Using this energy will help us improve the condition of your skin.

Microneedling techniques use your body's healing power to renew your skin. During your treatment, we will use microneedles to make very small injuries in your target area. These injuries will encourage your body to produce more collagen and elastin. These proteins can strengthen your skin and give you a more youthful look.

Why Am I Experiencing Skin Issues?

Many people develop wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, and other issues as they become older. There are a variety of reasons why people's skin changes as they age.

Decreasing Collagen and Elastin

Collagen and elastin are proteins that keep your skin firm and strong. When people are young, they have ample levels of these proteins in their bodies. However, as people age, their bodies produce less collagen and elastin. Although this is a natural process, it isn't very good for your skin. As your collagen and elastin levels decline, your skin will weaken. Your chances of experiencing wrinkles and other skin issues will increase.

Sun Damage

Accumulated sun damage can also negatively impact your skin. Although being out in the sun can be very enjoyable, excess sun exposure is not good for your skin. The sun emits harmful ultra-violet rays that can damage the collagen and elastin in your skin. As people become older, the harmful effects of repeated sun exposure can become more visible. In particular, you may develop wrinkles and fine lines as a result of sun exposure.

Other Factors

Other factors can influence how quickly your skin shows signs of age. In particular, your genetics play a large role in the condition of your skin. Eating an unbalanced diet and smoking may also make your skin age more quickly. Further, unbalanced hormones can cause you to develop acne and other skin issues.

Improving Your Skin

Reversing the signs of age can be very challenging. Many people try to use expensive creams, lotions, and other skincare products to rejuvenate their skin. Although some of these products are effective, many of them do not deliver the substantial benefits that they promise. Fortunately, you don't have to deal with your wrinkles, sun damage, and other issues on your own. Morpheus8 can minimize the appearance of your imperfections and give you a more youthful look.

What Issues Can Morpheus8 Improve?

Since this treatment can address so many different skin issues, it is an excellent choice for a wide variety of people.

Rejunivating Your Skin

This treatment can address many of the negative signs of the aging process. In particular, it can minimize the appearance of wrinkles and creases. It can also improve jowls and mild sagging. Further, it can improve the texture of your skin.

Addressing Imperfections

Morpheus8 is a great way to reduce your acne and acne scars. It can also minimize stretch marks, enlarged pores, and sun damage.

What Are the Unique Benefits of This Treatment?

Morpheus8 is an innovative treatment that offers many advantages when compared to other body contouring methods.

An Advanced Microneedling Technique

Morpheus8 uses a sophisticated device to provide your microneedling treatment. We can use this device to adjust the microneedles to a depth of up to four millimeters. This ability allows us to reach much deeper than other microneedling methods. Further, we can customize your treatment to fit your unique needs.

An Easy Option

Morpheus8 is a great alternative to a facelift or other invasive cosmetic procedure. Although these procedures are very safe, people may not be suitable candidates for these methods. For instance, some people's skin conditions are not significant enough to require correction with a facelift. Other people may not want to deal with the recovery time associated with a facelift. Whatever your reason, Morpheus8 offers a fantastic way to improve your skin without going through a complicated procedure.

People can also use Morpheus8 in combination with a facelift or other cosmetic procedure. In fact, many people use Morpheus8 treatments as part of their facelift aftercare program. Receiving Morpheus8 treatments may allow you to maintain the benefits of your facelift for a longer period of time.

A Natural Method

Morpheus8 uses the healing power of your own body to enhance your look. Accordingly, we do not need to introduce injectable products into your body during your treatment. While injectable products are efficient and safe, some people don't want to put these substances into their bodies. Fortunately, Morpheus8 allows people to get more youthful-looking skin in a natural, efficient manner.

What Will My Appointment Be Like?

Receiving this treatment is very quick and easy. We can use several different techniques to ensure that you will remain comfortable during your treatment session.

Preparing for Your Treatment

We will begin by administering a topical anesthetic to your skin. This cream will make your nerve endings less sensitive. It takes about thirty minutes to work.

Receiving Additional Protection

Some patients also enjoy using ProNox during their appointments. ProNox is a nitrous oxide system that can help you feel relaxed and comfortable during the treatment process. We can give you more details about this option during your initial consultation.

Performing Your Treatment

We will perform your treatment after you have achieved the full effect of the cream. This will allow you to feel more comfortable during your microneedling treatment. Further, you will feel only a mild heat as the radiofrequency energy is administered.

What Will My Recovery Be Like?

Your recovery process will depend on the condition of your skin, any treatments that you receive in combination with Morpheus8, and other factors. That said, many people have limited downtime after their appointments.

We may ask you to follow some simple rules after your treatment. In particular, you should avoid exposing your skin to the sun for a few weeks. You should also wear a high-quality sunscreen during this time. In addition, we may advise you not to apply skincare products that could negatively affect your skin. Following these rules may allow you to obtain better results from your treatment.

Using Makeup

Many people can apply makeup the day after they receive their treatments. That said, if you receive Morpheus8 in connection with other treatments, you may need to wait up to a week before you resume using makeup.

When Will I See the Benefits of This Treatment?

Since everyone's skin is different, people will see the benefits of this treatment at different times. Some people see positive changes in their skin a few days after they receive their treatments. In the weeks that follow your treatment, your body will produce more collagen and continue to renew itself. This process takes time. Accordingly, most people see the full benefits of their treatment after about three months.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments that you need will depend on the condition of your skin, your desired outcome, and other factors. That said, some people achieve their cosmetic goals after one treatment session. Other people may receive multiple treatments. People receive these treatments over a multi-week period. During our initial meeting, we will provide you with more information about how many treatments you will need.

Can I Combine Morpheus8 With Other Cosmetic Treatments?

Morpheus8 is a versatile treatment that can be combined with a variety of other cosmetic techniques. For instance, people may receive Morpheus8 in connection with other treatments that target the skin on their faces. During your initial consultation, we can talk about the various cosmetic treatments that we offer. We will provide you with more details about the treatments that we can combine with Morpheus8.

Is This Treatment Safe?

Morpheus8 is a proven, tested treatment that is very safe and effective. It uses well-established techniques to improve your body.

Proven Techniques

People have been using microneedling to enhance their skin for a long period of time. The needles create very small injuries that stimulate your body's healing process without requiring patients to take lengthy breaks from their usual activities.

As with microneedling techniques, radiofrequency energy is commonly used in the medical field. Many people have successfully used Morpheus8's combined microneedling and radiofrequency to enhance their skin and improve their overall appearance.

A Careful Approach

We have extensive experience using this technique in a precise, careful manner. We will use our training and skills to customize your body contouring treatment to fit your unique needs.

You should also tell us about any health conditions or allergies that you have during your initial consultation. We will use this information to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for this treatment.

At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville, CA, your health, wellness, and self-confidence are our top three priorities. That is why we are proud to offer the most cutting-edge aesthetic services to help our clients achieve their ideal aesthetic. Today, we reveal everything you need to know about the Viora20 device.

What Treatments Are Possible With the Viora20 Device?

Several treatments are possible with the Viora20 device. The most popular services we offer with this device include IPL laser hair removal, superficial vascular lesions treatment, and pigmented lesions treatment.

This device can also be used for superficial radiofrequency treatment to erase wrinkles, improve the tone of your skin, and encourage collagen growth. Finally, it can liquefy fat and tighten your skin on the body, arms, neck and jowls.

IPL Laser Hair Removal

IPL (intense pulse light) laser hair removal with the Viora20 device is much more effective than traditional laser hair removal treatments performed with other lasers. Using broad-spectrum, visible light, it targets the melanin pigment in hairs. This means the device destroys hair follicles without damaging surrounding tissue.

This technique is far superior to traditional laser hair removal because the light naturally spreads out much farther than traditional laser light. Moreover, traditional laser hair removal is ideal for clients with Type I skin on the Fitzpatrick scale. IPL laser hair removal with this device is ideal for clients with Type I-III skin and safe for clients with Type IV or V skin, too.

Superficial Vascular Lesions Treatment

The Viora20 device is also capable of performing safe, effective superficial vascular lesions treatment. If you have vascular lesions that are not too far from the surface of the skin, we strongly recommend this treatment method with this device.

Examples of superficial vascular lesions that can be treated include spider veins, varicose leg veins, facial telangiectasia, and spider angioma. The death of these diseased veins is immediate. However, it can take between a few days and a few weeks to see the final results of this treatment because the veins need to be absorbed by surrounding tissue.

Pigmented Lesions Treatment

Another incredibly popular treatment performed by this device is pigmented lesions treatment. Because this device promotes collagen rejuvenation and collagen production, it can treat any hyperpigmentation issue you have. Furthermore, thanks to its cellular turnover properties, it can make dull, ruddy skin look bright and young once more.

Superficial Radiofrequency Treatment

This device can also be used to perform superficial radiofrequency treatment. The heat emitted from this device via radiofrequency energy encourages your body's production of collagen. Collagen is an essential protein that keeps your skin taut, smooth, healthy, young, and radiant.

In other words, after a short, painless radiofrequency treatment with this device, the tone of your skin is improved. More importantly, your skin becomes tighter, retains moisture better for skin that looks beautifully hydrated, and becomes free of lines, wrinkles, and folds.

Fat Removal

This device pretty much does anything you could want. The heat energy emitted from this device can even liquefy fat and tighten the skin in target areas. These include the neck, jowls, arms, and the rest of your body.

Clients love this option because most fat removal treatments don't tighten the skin. Once the excess fat is removed, people are left with loose, sagging skin due to the volume lost in the treatment area. Moreover, this treatment feels like a hot stone massage, simultaneously relaxing and reinvigorating. You can see the results in under two months.

Good Candidates for Treatment With This Device

As stated previously, laser treatment with this device is safe for people with any skin type. This applies to every application, from fat removal to vein treatment and unwanted hair removal. Moreover, the radiofrequency treatment with this device is safe for everyone. The real question is whether treatment helps you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Fat Removal

To be a good candidate for fat removal with this, or any other device, being at or near your ideal weight is crucial. Fat removal treatments are entirely different from weight loss procedures. Most treatments require you to be within 10% of your ideal weight. However, we can treat clients who are up to 29 pounds from their goal weight due to its skin tightening capabilities.

Superficial Vascular Lesions Treatment

To be a good candidate for this treatment, you should have diseased or damaged veins that are fairly close to the surface of the skin. This device can treat disordered veins in the face, chest, abdomen, hands, feet, arms, and legs. To determine if your disordered veins are close enough to the surface to treat effectively, please contact us today.

There is a common misconception that you have to experience pain, numbness, tingling, discomfort, heaviness, swelling, or other physical symptoms to be a good candidate for disordered vein treatment. However, this is not the case. At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville, CA, we want you to be happy with your aesthetic even in the absence of physical symptoms.

Should You Consider Skin Tightening?

As we age, our skin is one of the first parts of our bodies to show the side effects of growing older. This often includes loose, sagging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles. When the skin loses its laxity, it can be challenging to restore a smooth, youthful appearance. At Capitis Medical & Aesthetics in Roseville and San Diego, CA, we are proud to offer non-surgical, effective skin tightening treatments designed to restore your skin, fade lines and wrinkles, and help you achieve your ideal image.

What Is Skin Tightening?

Skin tightening is a broad term that can be applied to several of our top-quality treatments. In order to fit into this category, a treatment must result in decreased skin laxity, improved lines and wrinkles, and an overall tighter appearance. This is most often achieved by stimulating collagen production in the skin, which helps improve the structure and tightness.

Treatments can be combined with other regenerative facials, serums, and treatment options to enhance final results and nourish the skin. Patients of all ages have used these methods with great success, and we find that beginning treatments early can even help improve the rate at which line, wrinkle, and sagging skin associated with growth older develop, resulting in a more graceful aging process.

We have treatment options that are effective on the face as well as on other areas of the body, allowing us to improve your skin's tightness in multiple locations.

Why Is Collagen Important for Tightening the Skin?

Collagen, which is often referred to as the framework of the skin, is a naturally occurring protein that helps create the natural structure of our skin. It assists in wound repair by rebuilding damaged skin and keeps lines and wrinkles at bay by maintaining a smooth top layer of skin, also known as the epidermis.

As we grow older, our body's collagen production levels steadily decrease and the existing collagen in the skin begins to break down. This results in wrinkles and folds in the skin, which typically becomes looser with age.

However, signs of collagen breakdown and the resulting skin laxity can begin to appear as early as your mid-20s and can be accelerated by conditions like pregnancy, which often create stretch marks. If you want to restore skin tightness but don't want to pursue surgery, stimulating collagen production and repairing the framework of the skin in your target areas is the best way to achieve smoother, younger-looking skin.

How Does It Compare to a Facelift?

Facelift surgery is often the go-to procedure when it comes to turning back the hands of time. This surgery, which has been offered for decades, can be effective, especially in cases of severe skin laxity. However, it involves far more risk and downtime than one of our non-invasive treatments, which are designed to create a natural, noticeable lift in your skin by working with your body's natural healing functions, including collagen.

Results from these treatments last several months, and follow-up treatments are a simple way to build on your success and maintain your ideal results. Due to the nature of aging, there is no truly permanent solution to skin conditions like skin laxity. Even a facelift, which lasts several years, is not able to deliver permanent results.

Our treatments are a less invasive, more sustainable way to address lines and wrinkles in addition to a variety of other skin concerns. In just one treatment, you could see the powerful effects of natural collagen production and the restorative powers of your own body.

Which Conditions Can Be Treated?

While tightening the skin works wonders for line and wrinkles, it is able to effectively treat several other common skin concerns as well. Increased collagen production can improve current acne or acne scarring as well as other scars. Most patients report a definite improvement in skin texture, which typically becomes smoother after just one appointment.

Sun damage, such as dark spots, can be minimized with repeated treatments, as can enlarged pores. Finally, mild to moderate sagging around the jawline and stretch marks, which typically appear on the abdomen and thighs, can be significantly improved.

Treatments Available

We're proud to offer several similar treatment options designed to tighten the skin on your face and in other areas of the body with zero downtime required. One of our skilled doctors would be happy to discuss these options more and help you decide which treatment may be right for you.

Morpheus 8

This revolutionary combination of technology uses microneedling and radiofrequency to remodel and rejuvenate the skin. It is able to improve skin tightness while also targeting stubborn adipose fat, which sits in areas like the jawline and underarms.

Microneedling, which creates tiny wounds in the skin and stimulates collagen production, helps tighten the skin, improve texture and scars, and encourage new cell growth. Radiofrequency energy reaches deep into the tissue helps reshape the skin's structure, resulting in a smooth and attractive result.

This powerful combination is FDA-approved as a Subdermal Adipose Remodeling Device (SARD). While it does involve microneedling, it is set apart by its ability to not only tighten the skin but also remodel its structure below the surface. Thanks to the radiofrequency energy, your adipose fat cells and skin cells are rearranged, common concerns like jowls and bra rolls are minimized, and the skin becomes smoother on the surface.

The adjustable microneedling device used is able to penetrate up to 4 millimeters, which is deeper than the standard device. This depth offers a new level of collagen stimulation and allows the treatment to target several layers of skin. In one appointment, this treatment can tighten skin, treat areas of adipose fat, and fade wrinkles, lines, scarring, and stretch marks on most parts of the body.

Treatment Process

We use a topical anesthetic to numb the target area and ensure your comfort during treatment. Next, we use a specialized, handheld device equipped with microneedles and radiofrequency energy to treat your skin. Depending on the areas treated, your appointment could take between 30-90 minutes. Once your treatment is finished, you are able to return to your normal activities with zero downtime.

You may notice some mild redness and swelling in the treated area for the first few days. This is normal and typically subsides in less than a week. Depending on your unique situation, our doctor may recommend just one treatment or a personalized series of treatments to best address your concerns.

If you are recommended for a series of treatments, we like to conduct these appointments over several weeks. You should begin to notice results in the first one to two weeks after treatment. Final results can take two to three months to appear as collagen production restores a more youthful structure and fades away wrinkles, stretch marks, and other imperfections.

We offer classic microneedling with the innovate SkinPen as one of our most popular treatments to tighten skin. This treatment involves a handheld device equipped with fine, sharp needles that are passed along the surface of the skin, creating micro-traumas in the skin as it goes.

The needles, which range between 0.5-2 millimeters in length, penetrate the skin and instantly stimulate the body's natural healing process, which involves the production of additional collagen to help repair the wounds.

Since microneedling creates mini channels into the deeper layers of skin, we recommend combining this treatment with a skin-nourishing serum or another treatment option that can enhance your results, such as hyaluronic acid or platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

This treatment can improve skin tightness and texture while smoothing wrinkles and fading scars. It is an excellent option for adults with acne as the extra collagen production can help clear breakouts and combination serums can penetrate the skin and deliver healing from within.

Like our other skin tightening treatments, microneedling requires zero downtime. Results, which are noticeable over the first few days, will continue to improve as collagen production lifts and smooths the skin. Most patients benefit from a series of appointments designed to create optimal tightness and address specific concerns.

Treatment Process

We apply a topical anesthetic to numb your skin before using the handheld SkinPen to gently pass across the surface, creating small wounds with the needles as we go. A typical appointment takes less than an hour, and you are able to return to your normal activities with no downtime required.

Any redness will fade over 24-48 hours, and collagen production will continue to improve the appearance of your skin for two to three months. Most of our patients return for follow-up treatments to further tighten and refine their skin.

Combination Treatments

We offer a variety of serums and treatment options that can be easily combined with microneedling to enhance your skin tightening. Two of our most popular combinations--hyaluronic acid and PRP--are naturally occurring in the human body and are therefore considered to be safe and effective for most of our patients.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is a complex sugar that is naturally produced by the body. It is designed to hydrate and plump the skin. When combined with microneedling, the acid can give your skin an extra boost as it permeates your pores and delivers a smoother, softer result. We apply hyaluronic acid after the microneedling is complete so that it can reach the deeper layers of your skin through the mini channels created by the needles.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is one of the most powerful growth factors existing in your body. It offers incredible healing powers when combined with microneedling and can improve the look of your skin thanks to new blood vessel formation, a smoother finish, and quicker collagen production.

In order to combine PRP with your microneedling treatment, we draw a small amount of your blood and spin it at a high speed in a centrifuge to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood cells. We then apply your PRP to your skin directly after microneedling, where it enters the small wounds and begins to restore your skin immediately.
